Drugmakers pledge to prioritize safety; WHO says ‘this will not be the last pandemic’ »

Nine drugmakers engaged on coronavirus vaccines publicly pledged on Tuesday to prioritize security and uphold rigorous scientific requirements as considerations mount of political strain to carry a vaccine to market earlier than the Nov. 3 U.S. presidential election. The pledge sought to “ensure public confidence” by committing to solely apply for regulatory authorization when sufficient information has been collected from a big section three trial. Three vaccine producers have now entered section three trials.

The following information was compiled by Johns Hopkins University:

  • Global circumstances: More than 27.3 million
  • Global deaths: At least 893,00
  • U.S. circumstances: More than 6.3 million
  • U.S. deaths: At least 189,200
